Structural repair & retrofit
A structural repair restores a damaged member or connection to its original capacity — for example, cutting out a cracked weld and re-welding it, or plating over a section lost to corrosion. A retrofit upgrades the structure to do more than it originally could, such as reinforcing a beam to support new rooftop equipment.
Both start with understanding the cause. We help document the condition with photos and measurements for your engineer, then carry out the repair details they specify — reinforcing plates, new stiffeners, sister members, or full replacement — with the welding procedures and sequencing needed to work on steel that's already carrying load.

FAQ
Can steel be repaired while the building is in use?
Often yes, with proper shoring and a welding sequence that limits heat input on loaded members. Your engineer decides when shoring is needed.
Do I need an engineer for a structural repair?
For anything beyond minor non-structural fixes, yes. An engineer determines the cause, the required capacity, and the repair detail. We can provide condition photos and measurements to support that work.
How do you repair a cracked weld?
The cracked weld is ground or gouged out completely, the joint is inspected and prepared, and it's re-welded to the specified procedure. Crack causes such as fatigue or poor fit-up are addressed so it doesn't happen again.
Can corroded steel beams be saved?
If enough section remains, corrosion is cleaned out and the member is reinforced with welded plates. Severely corroded members are replaced.
How fast can you look at damage?
Send photos and a short description through the quote form. We'll review them and tell you the next step, including whether it looks urgent.
Send us your drawings or a few photos and we'll give you a straight answer and a free, written estimate.
